K2 + Jacobs Win Bark and Build Competition

K2 Construction partnered with Jacobs to build “Dogometry”, the Best in Show winner at the SPCA’s annual Bark + Build competition. Bark + Build is a doghouse and cat condo design/build competition between professional teams consisting of architects and contractors. The finished doghouses and cat condos are displayed at NorthPark Center in Dallas during the second half of November and judged for design and construction quality. The doghouses and cat condos are auctioned, with all proceeds going to the SPCA of Texas.

Dogometry is a sculptural piece that is both functional and uniquely dynamic from every angle. The reclaimed beetle kill pine has inherent character that will enhance with age.  Designed to maximize air circulation, the house is both elevated and incorporates multiple slatted openings. Unfolding from the exterior is the planter and storage bench that is a convenient spot to store dog accessories. In this planter, dog-friendly herbs are a beneficial addition.
