DALLAS – K2 Construction, a Dallas-based general contracting firm specializing in data center construction, has announced the completion of DataBank’s North Dallas data center facility within Digital Realty’s datacampus, known as Digital Dallas, in Richardson, Texas. The design-build project was built in conjunction with Alliance Architects, United Mechanical and Critical Electric Systems Group. K2 Construction acted as a construction manager for the shell building and the general contractor for the MEP systems and interior construction.
The stand-alone facility is a purpose-built 60,000-square-foot building with a dedicated power station serving only DataBank and surrounding tenants. K2 Construction built the Tier III+ data center facility with redundancy in power, cooling and networking infrastructure.

Completed in February 2013, the data center facility required rigorous coordination from K2 Construction to ensure the entire project met the highest levels of efficiency and redundancy while remaining on schedule and within budget. The facility has a total of eight high-capacity generators on site, 100,000 gallons of reserve water in cooling tanks and five 500-ton cooling towers.
